The GEM80 range of Programmable Controllers is one of the most powerful and flexible PLC families in the world, with a proven track record of spanning over 20 years. GEM80 includes a common set of I/O interfaces, programming and communication facilities. The GEM80 system has been rationalised into 3 ranges of controllers, the GEM80-131, GEM80-400 and the GEM80-500, each able to control from simple, to the most complex of applications. The compatibility of the GEM80 range allows interface and upgrade from previous generations of GEM80 controllers to the latest GEM80 technology
The GEM80 product range forms an integral part of the product portfolio. This includes PLC systems, variable speed drives, Human Machine Interface (HMI) and SCADA. These products seamlessly integrate together to provide complete control solutions. GEM80 equipment is designed to be upwardly compatible, so that a program written for an early generation of GEM80 will run, with a minimum of modification, on any of the later controllers. Similarly, most GEM80 I/O systems are also compatible with these products. This attention to detail ensures that investment in both equipment and training can be utilised to its fullest potential.
All GEM80 controllers are equipped with an extremely powerful instruction set designed to make application programming as simple as possible. All the elements of conventional ladder diagram are present, with the addition of special functions. These are pre-written sub-routines to handle a variety of situations from PID to complex mathematical calculations, recipe handling and statistical analysis.
